See accounts by Liu and Hu, 1961, Tailless Amph. China: 283–285; Yang, 1991, Amph. Fauna of Yunnan: 224–226; Ye, Fei, and Hu, 1993, Rare and Economic Amph. China: 338; and Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 290–291. Fei and Ye, 2001, Color Handbook Amph. Sichuan: 219, provided a brief account and illustration. Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 98, noted the range in Vietnam without reference to voucher specimens. See also brief account by Zhao and Yang, 1997, Amph. Rept. Hengduan Mountains Region: 132–133. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 41, provided specific localities for Vietnam. Yang, 2008, in Yang and Rao (ed.), Amph. Rept. Yunnan: 118–119, provided a brief account for Yunnan, China. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 871–875, provided an account and a spot map for China. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 478–479, provided a brief account for China including photographs of specimens and habitat. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 564–565, provided an account, photographs, and a range map. Zhang, Hui, Yu, Song, Liu, Yuan, Xiao, and Rao, 2020, Ecol. Evol., 10: 1567–1580, reported on phylogeography, suggesting the possibility of at least one additional cryptic species. Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 39, suggested that the Vietnam records require confirmation. Glyphoglossus huadianensis was recently named from western Yunnan, China, and may have been confused with this species in some literature. Huang and Huang, 2022, MtDNA, Part B, 7: 1186–1188, reported on the complete mtDNA genome.
