Type locality: " Insula Ternat et Batcian .... Acqui Conora nell'Isola di Ternate ed ... Isola di Batcian [Batjan, Moluccan Is., Indonesia]"; restricted to Batjan by lectotype designation. Placed on the Official List of Specific Names in Zoology by Opinion 1266, Anonymous, 1984, Bull. Zool. Nomencl., 41: 12-14.

Oreophryne senckenbergiana Boettger, 1895, Zool. Anz., 18: 135. Syntypes: SMF; SMF 4203 designated lectotype by Mertens, 1967, Senckenb. Biol., 48(A): 50. Type localities: "Supu, Nord-Halmaheira"; "Dodinga, West-Halmaheira"; and "Patani, Ost-Halmaheira", Molucca Islands, Indonesia. Synonymy by Parker, 1934, Monogr. Frogs Fam. Microhylidae: 165.

Records for Salawatti and Morotai Is., based on lost syntypes of Callula frontifasciata (now Oreophryne frontifasciata) require confirmation as to species according to Zweifel, 1985, in Frost (ed.), Amph. Species World: 370. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 203, provided a brief account.
