Leptolalax solus Matsui, 2006, Zool. Sci., Tokyo, 23: 826. Holotype: KUHE 23261, by original designation. Type locality: "Bala in Hala Bala Wildlife Sanctuary, Narathiwat Province, Thailand (5° 49′ N, 101° 47′ E)".

English Names

Hala Bala Litter Toad (Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 31).

Distribution

Known only from the type locality, Bala in Hala Bala Wildlife Sanctuary, Narathiwat Province, southernmost Thailand, and from the Titwangsa Range in West Malaysia.

Natural Resident: Malaysia, Malaysia, West (Peninsular), Thailand

Comment

Resembles Leptolalax heteropus according to the original publication. Matsui, Eto, Nishikawa, Hamidy, Belabut, Ahmad, Panha, Khonsue, and Grismer, Curr. Herpetol., Kyoto, 36: 15, addressed the phylogenetics of the species. Thong-aree, Chan-ard, Cota, and Makchai, 2011, Thailand Nat. Hist. Mus. J., 5: 99–106, reported the species from Bala Forest, Narathiwat, extreme southern Thailand. See comments on morphology, localities, and natural history in West Malaysia by Chan, Muin, Anuar, Andam, Razak, and Aziz, 2019, Check List, 15: 1055–1069. Niyomwan, Srisom, and Pawangkhanant, 2019, Field Guide Amph. Thailand: 130–131, provided a brief account (photograph, habitat, and range) for Thailand (in Thai).
