Leptobrachium banae Lathrop, Murphy, Orlov, and Ho, 1998, Russ. J. Herpetol., 5: 58. Holotype: ROM 32200, by original designation. Type locality: "forested hills about 2 km east [of] a farming village (14° 20′ 29″ N, 108° 28′ 46″ E, elevation 850 m), Gia Lia [sic] Province, Vietnam".

Distribution

Region of the type locality on Tay-Nguyen Plateau (Gia Lai, Thue Thien-Hue, and Quang Nam provinces, southern Vietnam) and in adjacent Annamite Mountains of Laos, 800–1600 m elevation.

Stuart, 1999, in Duckworth et al. (eds.), Wildlife in Lao PDR: 44, and Stuart, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 473, reported this species from Xe Sap National Biodiversity Conservation Area, Kaleum District, Xe Kong Province, Laos, and described coloration in life. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 11, provided the record for Quang Nam Province, Vietnam, but without reference to a voucher or specific locality. Bain, Nguyen, and Doan, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 108, provided a record from Thua Thien-Hue Province, Vietnam, and briefly discussed the range.
