Comment

Not assigned to species group, but most likely to be confused with Leptodactylus syphax and some Leptodactylus rugosus, according to the original publication. Reviewed by Heyer and Heyer, 2001, Cat. Am. Amph. Rept., 723: 1-3. Barrio-Amorós, 1999 "1998", Acta Biol. Venezuelica, 18: 44, commented on confusion in the identifications of Venezuelan specimens. Heyer and Barrio-Amorós, 2009, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 122: 282–291, described the advertisement call. In the Leptodactylus pentadactylus species group of de Sá, Grant, Camargo, Heyer, Ponssa, and Stanley, 2014, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 9(Spec. Issue 1): 1–123, and who provided a summary of relevant literature (adult and larval morphology, identification, advertisement call, and range) on pp. 53–54. See detailed account for Colombia by Barrientos, Paz, and Lasso, 2018, Catal. Anf. Rept. Colombia, Medellín, 4(1): 30–36. See Barrio-Amorós, Rojas-Runjaic, and Señaris, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (1: e180): 94, for comments on range and literature.
