Comment

Similar to Sphaenorhynchus prasinus according to the original publication. Freitas, Silva, and Loebmann, 2009, Check List, 5: 200-201, provided the second locality for this species. Araujo-Vieira, Luna, Caramaschi, and Haddad, 2020, Zool. Anz., 286: 84, found Sphaenorhynchus pauloalvini to be the sister taxon of the remaining members of Sphaenorhycnhus and on this basis recognized Gabohyla. Carmo, Alves, Dias, Solé, Mira-Mendes, Santos, Silva, Zocca, Ferreira, and Lacerda, 2021, Zootaxa, 5032: 431–441, reported on advertisement call and provided new records from Bahia and Espírito Santo, Brazil. Pereira Silva, Ceron, Silva, and Santana, 2022, Ecol. Evol., 12(e8754): 1–15, reported on phylogenetic relationships and biogeography and provided a polygon map of the species. Silva, Araujo-Vieira, Dias, Souza, Pareja-Mejía, Solé, and Mira-Mendes, 2022, J. Herpetol., 56: 422–433, detailed (as Gabohyla paulovalvini) larval morphology, coloration, and habitat.
