Hyla ameibothalame Canseco-Márquez, Mendelson, and Gutiérrez-Mayén, 2002, Herpetologica, 58: 261. Holotype: EBUAP 1024, by original designation. Type locality: "1 km S Yoxocuno, Municipality of San Pedro Nopala, 2455 m (17° 51′ N, 97° 34′ W), Mixteca Alta, Oaxaca, México".

Distribution

Known only from two localities in northwestern Oaxaca, Mexico: Yosocuno and near Nativitas, in pine-oak forest at 2455–2670 m elevation.

In the Hyla bistincta group according to the original publication. In the Plectrohyla bistincta group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 105. Caviedes-Solis, Vázquez-Vega, Solano-Zavaleta, Pérez-Ramos, Rovito, Devitt, Heimes, Flores-Villela, Campbell, and Nieto-Montes de Oca, 2015, Mesoam. Herpetol., 2: 230–241, reported the species from the second locality. See comments by Cisneros-Bernal, Palacios-Aguilar, Medina-Bernal, Campillo-G., and Rivera-Reyes, 2020, North-West. J.
