Hyloscirtus japreria Rojas-Runjaic, Infante-Rivero, Salerno, and Meza-Joya, 2018, Zootaxa, 4382: 126. Holotype: MHNLS 19236, by original designation. Type locality: "Guacharaca Camp, Tetari Kopejoacha creek, Rio Negro basin, Sierra de Perijá, Machiques de Perijá municipality, Zulia state, Venezuela (10°04’21.9 N–72°51’16.7 W; elevation 1,661 m asl)". Distribution

Known from several localities on the eastern versant of the Sierra de Perijá (Zulia state) in Venezuela, and an additional locality on the western versant in Colombia (La Guajira department); all between 1430 and 1832 m elevation.

In the Hyloscirtus bogotensis group according to the original publication, where molecular markers, external morphology, and the advertisement call were described.
