Type locality: "Serra do Quengo (8° 43′ S, 35° 50′ W, approximately 700 m), Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural Frei Caneca, Municipality of Jaqueira, State of Pernambuco, Brazil".

Known from the type locality, Serra do Quengo (8° 43′ S, 35° 50′ W, approximately 700 m), Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural Frei Caneca, Municipality of Jaqueira, State of Pernambuco, in montane forest, and 56 km to the south at Fazenda Bananeiras, Alagoas, Brazil.

Unassigned to species group, but likely associated with the Hyla pulchella group, according to the original publication. In the Hypsiboas pulchellus group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 87-88. Cardoso, Cruz, Lima, and Skuk, 2006, Herpetol. Rev., 37: 489, provided the record for Alagoas, Brazil. Dubeux, Silva, Nascimento, Gonçalves, and Mott, 2019, Rev.
