Aplastodiscus perviridis Lutz, 1950

Chorophilus cuzcanus Cope, 1878 "1877", Proc. Am. Philos. Soc., 17: 37. Types: Not designated, presumably originally in the ANSP. Type locality: "Peru". Recognized by Boulenger, 1882, Cat. Batr. Sal. Coll. Brit. Mus., Ed. 2: 334. Goin, 1961, Ann. Carnegie Mus., 36: 13, suggested this might be an Aplastodiscus; Lutz, 1968, Pearce-Sellards Ser., 11: 7, suggested that this may be an older name for Aplastodiscus perviridis, although this seems not to have been generally accepted.

Aplastodiscus perviridis Lutz, 1950, Mem. Oswaldo Cruz, Rio de Janeiro, 48: 612, 630. Holotype: AL-MNRJ 2132, according to Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 7. Type locality: "Serra de Bocaina na zona limítrofe do Estado de São Paulo com o Estado do Rio . . . . 1.100 ms de altitude" also in the english part as "Serra da Bocaina on the border between the states of São Paulo and of Rio de Janeiro . . . . at 1100 ms. of altitude"; given as "Fazenda do Bonito, Serra da Bocaina, São José do Barreiro, São Paulo", Brazil by Bokermann, 1966, Lista Anot. Local. Tipo Anf. Brasil.: 13.

Distribution

Central and southeastern Brazil from southern Goiás and Serra da Mantiqueira and coastal ranges south to Rio Grande do Sul and northeastern Argentina; likely into adjacent southeastern Paraguay.

See account by Cei, 1980, Monit. Zool. Ital., N.S., Monogr., 2: 430-452. In the Aplastodiscus perviridis group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 82. Both, Kaefer, and Cechin, 2006, Check List, 2(2): 30-31, provided records for central Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Brusquetti and Lavilla, 2006, Cuad. Herpetol., 20: 27, suggested that this species likely occurs in adjacent Paraguay. Populations from the Brasilia region have been recognized as Aplatodiscus lutzorum.
