Distribution

Southeastern Brazil, in the states of Rio de Janeiro (municipalities of Resende, Paraty, and Nova Friburgo) and São Paulo (municipalities of São José do Barreiro, Parque Nacional da Serra da Bocaína, and Ubatuba).

Removed from the synonymy of Flectonotus fissilis by  Folly, Hepp, Carvalho-e-Silva, and Duellman, 2014, Zoologia, Curitiba, 31: 393–399 (who rediagnosed the species and discussed the type), where it had been placed by Bokermann, 1966, Lista Anot. Local. Tipo Anf. Brasil.: 41. Menegucci, Gaiga, and Machado, 2017, Check List, 13 (2: 2061): 1–3, reported new localities in the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil, and discussed the range.
