Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) auriculatus species series, Eleutherodactylus abbotti group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 54. Powell, 1993, Herpetol. Rev., 24: 135-137, suggested that Eleutherodactylus audanti melatrigonum warranted binominal status. This was formally proposed by Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 54. Henderson and Powell, 2009, Nat. Hist. Rept. Amph. W. Indies: 65, summarized the natural history literature. In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) auriculatus species series, Eleutherodactylus abbotti species group of Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 129. Díaz, Incháustegui, Marte, Köhler, Cádiz, and Rodríguez, 2018, Novit. Caribaea, Santo Domingo, 12: 38, on the basis of preliminary molecular data suggested that Eleuterodactylus melatrigonum may be conspecific with Eleutherodactylus notidodes
