Eleutherodactylus amplinympha Kaiser, Green, and Schmid, 1994, Canad. J. Zool., 72: 2220. Holotype: KU 221259, by original designation. Type locality: "near Freshwater Lake, Dominica, West Indies (ca. 61° 20´ W, 1° 20´ N; elevation ca. 800 m)."

In the Eleutherodactylus auriculatus group according to the original publication, most closely related to Eleutherodactylus martinicensis. In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus martinicensis group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 219.
