Comment

See brief account by Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 291–293, and account by Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 48. Stuart, 1999, in Duckworth et al. (eds.), Wildlife in Lao PDR: 48, reported the species in Laos (as Paa microlineata), although (see below), molecular work by Che et al. suggests that the Laotian and Chinese populations are cryptic members of the species complex. Bain and Nguyen, 2004, Am. Mus. Novit., 3453: 1–41, provided a record from Ha Giang Province, Vietnam. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 20, provided specific localities for Vietnam and (p. 148) and a photograph. Not addressed, and therefore not assigned to subgenus, by Che, Zhou, Hu, Papenfuss, Wake, and Zhang, 2010, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 107: 13765–13770, and Che, Zhou, Hu, Papenfuss, Wake, and Zhang, 2010, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, Suppl. Inform., doi:10.1073/pnas.1008415107/-/DCSupplemental: 2. Pham, Nguyen, Hoang, and Ziegler, 2016, Herpetol. Notes, 9: 31–41, provided a record from Xuan Lien Nature Reserve, Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam. Do, Cao, Nguyen, and Ngo, 2019, Hue Univ. J. Sci: Nat. Sci., 128 (1C): 25–33, described larval morphology from Nghe An Province, Vietnam, and confirmed the identification genetically although subsequent work by Yan et al. (2021; see below) requires that this be looked at again. Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 27, for undisclosed reasons considered nominal Quasipaa delacouri to be likely a species complex and doubted the records of Stuart (1999) for Laos, and of Do et al. (2019) from Nghe An province, Vietnam; Che, Zhou, Hu, Papenfuss, Wake, and Zhang, 2010, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, Suppl. Inform., doi:10.1073/pnas.1008415107/-/DCSupplemental: Table 2, found the FMNH specimen (FMNH258619) used by Do et al. (2019) to confirm the identity of their specimens to be an unnamed species (Che et al's Quasipaa sp. 5) from Laos (Xe Kong: Kaleum district). Yan, Nneji, Jin, Yuan, Chen, Mi, Chen, Murphy, and Che, 2021, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 163 (107218): 1–7, reported on phylogenetics of the species and restricted the species to central Vietnam (Thua Thien and Danang provinces) and adjacent Laos (Xe Kong province), records outside of this are are assignable to other species.
