Known only from the region type locality, Mêdog, in eastern Tibet, China.

Comment

Most similar to Nanorana chayuensis (as Paa) according to the original publication. Fei and Ye, 2001, Acta Zool. Sinica, 47: 226–230, provided and augmented description and discussion. Zhao, Rao, Lü, and Dong, 2005, Sichuan J. Zool., 24: 252, provided a brief report on additional specimens from the vicinity of the type locality. Li, Lu, Li, Zhao, Hou, and Zhang, 2005, Sichuan J. Zool., 24: 248, provided additional localities in Xizang. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1410–1415, provided an account (as Paa medogensis) for China, figures, and map, and included this species in their Paa maculosa group. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 371, provided a brief account (as Paa medogensis) including photographs. Li, Zhao, and Dong, 2010, Amph. Rept.
