Comment

See Boulenger, 1920, Rec. Indian Mus., 20: 49; Taylor, 1962, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 43: 390–392; Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 261–263; and Berry, 1975, Amph. Fauna Peninsular Malaysia: 65–66, for accounts and discussion. Ohler and Dubois, 1999, Zool. Scripta, 23: 276, gave a restricted distribution of Thailand and Myanmar. See identification table by Manthey and Grossmann, 1997, Amph. Rept. Südostasiens: 84–86, to compare this species with other dicroglossids of the Sunda Shelf region. Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 128, provided range, systematic comments, and a taxonomic bibliography (and rejected records from Karnataka, India). Chanda, 2002, Handb. Indian Amph.: 104–107, provided a brief account (as Rana doriae). Nutphund, 2001, Amph. Thailand: 126, provided a brief characterization and photograph, which Ohler, 2003, Alytes, 21: 100–102, suggested represented Limnonectes blythii. Chan-ard, 2003, Photograph. Guide Amph. Thailand: 118–119, provided a very brief account, map for Thailand, and photograph. Chan-ard, Cota, and Makchai, 2011, Amph. E. Region Thailand: 133, detailed the distribution in Thailand. Mulcahy, Lee, Miller, Chand, Thura, and Zug, 2018, ZooKeys, 757: 85–162, a genetically-confirmed record from Tanintharyi Division, Myanmar. Niyomwan, Srisom, and Pawangkhanant, 2019, Field Guide Amph. Thailand: 254–255, provided a brief account (photographs, habitat, and range) for Thailand (in Thai). Makchai, Chuaynkern, Safoowong, Chuachat, and Cota, 2020, Amph. N. Thailand: 59, provided photographs, a brief account for Thailand, and a range map. Köhler, Zwitzers, Than, Gupta, Janke, Pauls, and Thammachoti, 2021, Diversity, 13 (399): 1–35, identified three 16S mtDNA clades within former Limnonectes doriae, one of which was named as Limnonectes bagoensis from the Bago Region of southern non-peninsular Myanmar, the other, from southeastern Myanmar and western Thailand south to peninsular Malaysia they attached the name Limnonectes doriae, and for the third 16S mtDNA clade from Rakhin Yoma Mountain range, Rakhine State, Myanmar, west of Limnonectes bagoensis, which separates it from the range of Limnonectes doriaeGarg, Sivaperuman, Gokulakrishnan, Gopika, Das, and Biju, 2022, Vert. Zool., Senckenberg, 72: 169–199, demonstrated that records for the Andamans rest on misidentifications of Minervarya andamanensis and Minervarya charlesdarwini. For this reason, literature prior to 2021 should be employed with caution. Zug, 2022, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 653: 20, briefly discussed identification, habitat, and range in Myanmar.
