Ranitomeya tolimense Bernal-Bautista, Luna-Mora, Gallego, and Quevedo-Gil, 2007, Zootaxa, 1638: 60. Holotype: ICN 53372, by original designation. Type locality: "'near Finca La Lulera', vereda el Llano, Departamento del Tolima, Municipio de Falan, Cordillera Central of Colombia, elevation 1852 m above sea level (5° 01′ 08″ N, 75° 02′ 31″ W)". Incorrect original spelling of species name.

Ranitomeya tolimensisFrost, 2008, Amph. Spec. World, vers. 5.2: . Improper 'correction' of gender of species name which has to remain tolimense as a noun in apposition.

Known only from the type locality on the eastern slope of the Cordillera Oriental in the Municipio de Falan, Departamento de Tolima, Colombia, 1852 m elevation.

Comment

Related to Ranitomeya abdita, Ranitomeya bombetes, Ranitomeya opisthomelas, and Ranitomeya virolinensis according to the original publication, where larval and adult morphology were described. In the Andinobates bombetes species group of Brown, Twomey, Amézquita, Souza, Caldwell, Lötters, von May, Melo-Sampaio, Mejía-Vargas, Pérez-Peña, Pepper, Poelman, Sanchez-Rodriguez, and Summers, 2011, Zootaxa, 3083: 36.
