Ameerega altamazonica Twomey and Brown, 2008, Zootaxa, 1757: 52. Holotype: MUSM 26937, by original designation. Type locality: Departamento San Martín, Perú, 3.5 km N of Tarapoto, Río Shilcayo drainage, 401 m elevation, 6° 27′ 44″ S, 76° 21′ 6″ W".

Comment

The sister taxon of Ameerega rubriventris according to the original publication. See comment under Ameerega hahneliBrown, Siu-Ting, von May, Twomey, Guillory, Deutsch, and Chávez, 2019, Zootaxa, 4712: 211–235, included this in their Ameerega rubriventris complex and mapped the range, which they restricted with the naming of Ameerega imasmari and Ameerega panguana. In the Ameerega hahneli species group of Guillory, French, Twomey, Chávez, Prates, von May, De la Riva, Lötters, Reichle, Serrano-Rojas, Whitworth, and Brown, 2020, Mol.
