Páramos in the Sierra Nevada (Mucubají, Sai Sai, Los Granates), Mérida State , Venezuela, 2900–3300 m elevation.

In the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group, according to the original publication. In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) conspicillatus group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. In the subgenus Pristimantis, but unnassigned to species group by Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 118, or by Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 128.
