Type locality: "Colombia, Departamento de Antioquia: municipio de Guatapé, vereda Santa Rita, Hacienda Montepinar, 1840-1890 m.s.n.m. 6° 18′ 16″ N, 75° 08′ 06″ W".

Cloud forest at 1800–2650 m in the municipalities of Pensilvania and Samaná, Department of Caldas, and municipality of Guatepé, Antioquia, on the eastern flank of the Cordillera Central, Colombia.

Comment

Likely related to Eleutherodactylus juanchoi according to the original publication. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128. Not assignable to a species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 127.
