Syntypes: "several specimens . . . hoped will be acquired by the British Museum"; BMNH 1947.2.16.80–85 (formerly 1903.4.28.24–29) by miuseum records, NHMW 22871 (3 specimens) (according to Häupl, Tiedemann, and Grillitsch, 1994, Kat. Wiss. Samml. Naturhist. Mus. Wien, 9: 25, who considered the status of these specimens to be unclear), UMMZ 46471 and 51262 (according to Peters, 1952, Occas. Pap. Mus. Zool. Univ. Michigan, 539: 17, although Kluge, 1983, Misc. Publ. Mus. Zool. Univ. Michigan, 166: 49, doubted that 51262 was a syntype), MCZ 3888 and 7601. (The status of all but the BMNH material is suspect—DRF.) Type locality: "Merida, Venezuela, at an altitude of 1600 metres".
