Type locality: "Cabaceras del río Luisito (afluente del río Oibita), Municipio de El Encino, Departamento de Santander, vertiente Occidental de la Cordillera Oriental de Colombia. Altura 1750 m. s. n. m."

Distribution

Cloud forest on the western slope of the Cordillera Oriental in Colombia (Departments of Cundinamarca, Boyacá, and Santander) at elevations of 300–2400 m.

In the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group; close to Eleutherodactylus cruentus, according to the original publication. In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 220. In the Pristimantis ridens species series of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 114, and in the Pristimantis ridens species group of Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 126.
