Hylella ocellata Boulenger, 1918, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 9, 2: 433. Holotype: BMNH 1912.11.1.19, according to Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 192. Type locality: "Huancabamba, [Departamento Pasco,] E. Peru, above 3000 feet"; reregistered as 1947.2.22.56 according to museum records.
