Truebella tothastes Graybeal and Cannatella, 1995, Herpetologica, 51: 109. Holotype: KU 196601, by original designation. Type locality: "Ccarapa, below Tambo on Ayacucho-Valle del Apurimac Rd., Departamento de Ayacucho, Peru, approximately 8000 ft. (2438 m) (approximately 12° 45′ S, 73° 52′ W)".
