According to the original publication the species name is a noun in apposition. Malonza, Lötters, and Measey, 2010, J. E. Afr. Nat. Hist., 99: 53, commented on range, life history, and conservation status. Measey, Malonza, and Muchai, 2009, Amph. Taita Hills: 20–23, provided a very brief account. Harper, Measey, Patrick, Menegon, and Vonesh, 2010, Field Guide Amph. E. Arc Mts. Tanzania and Kenya: 84–85, provided a brief account. Malonza, 2012, Intl. Schol. Res. Network, Zool., 2012 (Article ID 212491): 1–9, reported on natural history observations. Spawls, Wasonga, and Drewes, 2019, Amph. Kenya: 30, provided a range map for Kenya, photograph, and brief characterization. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 126–127, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
