Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) conspicillatus series, Eleutherodactylus conspicillatus group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 234. Lescure and Marty, 2000, Collect. Patrimoines Nat., Paris, 45: 214-214, provided a photo and brief account for French Guiana. Barrio-Amorós, 1999 "1998", Acta Biol. Venezuelica, 18: 56, provided Venezuelan localities. Barrio-Amorós and Molina, 2006, Zootaxa, 1302: 16, questioned the distinctiveness of this species from Eleutherodactylus vilarsi. In the Pristimantis  conspicillatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 120, and Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 125. See account for Suriname population by Ouboter and Jairam, 2012, Amph. Suriname: 314-317. See Cole, Townsend, Reynolds, MacCulloch, and Lathrop, 2013, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 125: 390, for brief account and records for Guyana. See Barrio-Amorós, Rojas-Runjaic, and Señaris, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (1: e180): 129–130, for comments on range and literature (although records for Venezuela have now been reassigned to other species). Fouquet, Vidal, and Dewynter, 2019, Zoosystema, 41: 367, reported the species from the Mitaraka Massif in southwestern French Guiana, and suggested that it represents a complex of species. Taucce, Costa-Campos, Carvalho, and Michalski, 2022, Eur. J. Taxon., 836: 96–130, reported on distribution, literature, and conservation status for Amapá, Brazil. In the Pristimantis conspicillatus group, Pristimantis vilarsi clade of Fouquet, Réjaud, Rodrigues, Ron, Chaparro, Osorno-Muñoz, Werneck, Hrbek, Lima, Camacho-Badani, Jaramillo-Martinez, and Chave, 2022, Syst. Biodiversity, 20(1: 2130464): 1–16, who reported on phylogenetics and biogeography, and implied that the nominal species is composed of at least two lineage-species.
