Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group according to the original publication. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128. Not assignable to a species group according to Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 127. See Duellman and Lehr, 2009, Terrest.-breeding Frogs in Peru: 201-202, for brief account and statement that the Ecuador record requires confirmation. Yánez-Muñoz, Toral-Contreras, Meza-Ramos, Reyes-Puig, Bejarano-Muñoz, Mueses-Cisneros, and Paucar, 2012, Check List, 8: 286-290, provided a range extension in Ecuador and commented on the range. In the Pristimantis (Huicundomantis) cryptomelas species group of Páez and Ron, 2019, ZooKeys, 868: 95, who (p. 95) suggested that the Ecuadorian population may represent an unnamed species. Venegas, García Ayachi, and Catenazzi, 2021 "2022", Taxonomy, 2022: 37, suggested that the Ecuadorian part of the range requires genetic confirmation.
