Distribution

Cloud forests (1730 to 2456 m elevation) on the Pacific slopes of the western Andes in Ecuador (Pichincha Province) north to extreme southwestern Colombia (Department of Nariño).

In the Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group, Eleutherodactylus lacrimosus assembly, according to the original publication. See account by Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 91–92, who place it in the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group.
