Atopophrynus syntomopus Lynch and Ruiz-Carranza, 1982, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 95: 557. Holotype: ICN 8611, by original designation. Type locality: "crest of the Cordillera Central [2780 m], 8 km by road E Sonsón, Municipio Sonsón, Departamento Antioquia, Colombia".

Known only from the vicinity of the type locality in the Cordillera Central, Antioquia, Colombia, 2780 m elevation.
