Ischnocnema henselii (Peters, 1870)

Class: Amphibia > Order: Anura > Superfamily: Brachycephaloidea > Family: Brachycephalidae > Genus: Ischnocnema > Species: Ischnocnema henselii

Hylodes henselii Peters, 1870, Monatsber. Preuss. Akad. Wiss. Berlin, 1870: 648. Holotype: ZMB 6813, stated in the original publication and located by Kwet and Solé, 2005, J. Univ. Kansas, 61: 7. Type locality: Not stated in original publication other than being Brazilian, but in the description indicated by Peters (Hensel, 1867, Arch. Naturgesch., 33: 161) the type locality is given as "Porto Alegre", Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Comment

Removed from the synonymy of Eleutherodactylus guentheri by Kwet and Solé, 2005, J. Herpetol., 39: 522, where it had been placed by Heyer, 1984, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 402: 27. Argentine record (as Eleutherodactylus guentheri) by Carrizo, De Olmedo, and Soroka, 1989, Bol. Asoc. Herpetol. Argentina, 5: 10–11. Brusquetti and Lavilla, 2006, Cuad. Herpetol., 20: 27, suggested that this species likely occurs in Paraguay. In the Ischnocnema guentheri species series of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 27, Canedo and Haddad, 2012, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 65: 619, Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 122, Taucce, Canedo, and Haddad, 2018, Herpetol. Monogr., 32: 17, and Taucce, Canedo, Parreiras, Drummond, Nogueira-Costa, and Haddad, 2018, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 128: 123–146. Conte, Nomura, Machado, Kwet, Lingnau, and Rossa-Feres, 2010, Biota Neotrop., São Paulo, 10: 201–224, reported on vocalization and new records. Gehara, Canedo, Haddad, and Vences, 2013, Conserv. Genetics, 14: 973–982, reported on phylogenetic placement within the Ischnocnema guentheri series. Rodriguez, Börner, Pabijan, Gehara, Haddad, and Vences, 2015, Evol. Ecol., 29: 765–785 (and supplemental data), reported on phylogeographic diversity and its causes. Lucas, Bastiani, and Lingnau, 2018, Rev. Brasil. Zoociênc., 19: 151–162, reported on geographic distribution, habitat use, and vocalization. Gehara, Canedo, Haddad, and Vences, 2013, Conserv. Genetics, 14: 915–917, reported on the mtDNA genome.
