Comment

Considered conspecific with Leptopelis anchietae nordequatorialis (=Leptopelis nordequatorialis of this list) by Laurent, 1973, Ann. Mus. R. Afr. Cent., Tervuren, Ser. Octavo, Sci. Zool., 202: 29, but provisionally retained as a distinct species by Schiøtz, 1975, Treefrogs E. Afr.: 11–14, although he suggested that Leptopelis oryi might be a subspecies of Leptopelis nordequatorialis. Unlike Leptopelis nordequatorialis and Leptopelis anchietae, Leptopelis oryi lacks pectoral glands according to J.-L. Perret in Laurent, 1985, in Frost (ed.), Amph. Species World: 232; see Perret, 1976, Arq. Mus. Bocage, Ser. 2, 6: 23. Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 302–303, and Channing and Howell, 2006, Amph. E. Afr.: 206–207, provided accounts. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 220–221, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
