Leptopelis anebos Portillo and Greenbaum, 2014, Herpetologica, 70: 106. Holotype: UTEP 20561, by original designation. Type locality: "DRC, South Kivu Province, Tumungu, 3.56455° S, 28.66619° E (datum WGS84), 1897 m". 

English Names

Young Itombwe Forest Treefrog (original publication). 

Itombwe Tree Frog (Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 222). 

Distribution

Currently known from montane forests of the Itombwe Plateau in the vicinity of Tumungu and from a stream running through savanna (near montane forest) in the nearby village of Bilimba at elevations between 1897–2227 m, South Kivu Province, Dem. Rep. Congo.

Most similar to Leptopelis karissimbensis according to the original publication, where the advertisement call, external morphology,  molecular markers, and natural history were discussed. Portillo, Greenbaum, Menegon, Chifundera, and Dehling, 2015, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 82: 75–86, discussed the phylogeography and species boundaries of this species and near relatives. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 222–223, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
