Distribution

Known only from the type locality (Quebrada Infiernillo) and a nearby cascade (Quebrada Lisboa), both in the Natural Sanctuary San Juan de Piche on the western slope of the Altos de Cantillana, Región de Valparaíso, Chile.

Comment

The sister taxon of Alsodes nodosus based on molecular data but not particular similar to that species according to the original publication, where external morphology and molecular markers were discussed. Ramírez-Álvarez and Peñaloza, 2020, Bol. Chil. Herpetol., 7: 51–54, confirmed the record for the Cerro Poqui, Coltauco, Región de O’Higgins, Chile, and discussed the state conservation.
