Chthonerpeton noctinectes Silva, Britto-Pereira, and Caramaschi, 2003, Zootaxa, 381: 4. Holotype: MNRJ 10581, by original designation. Type locality: "Sítio (11° 50′ S, 37° 35′ W, at sea level), Municipality of Conde, State of Bahia, Brazil".

Distribution

Known from the type locality (Sítio, 11° 50′ S, 37° 35′ W, at sea level, Municipality of Conde, State of Bahia, Brazil) in the Itapicuru River basin and 175 km to the south from from Monte Cristo Island in the Paraguacu River estuary, all in Bahia, Brazil .
