Wilkinson and Nussbaum, 2006, In Exbrayat (ed.), Reprod. Biol. Phylog. Gymnophiona: 39-78 [69-70] diagnosed the taxon and briefly discussed its provenance. Hoogmoed, Maciel, and Coragem, 2012 "2011", Bol. Mus. Parense Emilio Goeldi, Cienc. Nat., 6: 241-262, noted four recently collected specimens and provided a wealth of information.
