Uraeotyphlus narayani Seshachar, 1939, Proc. Indian Acad. Sci., Ser. B, 9: 224–228. Holotype: Not located; one member of the type series, possibly the holotype, located in the CCB according to Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 703, and who noted a "cotype" (= paratype) as BMNH 1946.9.5.55. Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 29, noted a "syntype" (= paratype?) as BMNH 1940.1.5.1. Type locality: "Kannan, 16 miles from Kottayam, Travancore [state of Kerala, India]. Elevation above sea-level 300–600 feet."
