Choudhury, Hussain, Buruah, Saikia, and Sengupta, 2002, Hamadryad, 26: 279-280, commented on the range in Assam, India. Chanda, 2002, Handb. Indian Amph.: 206–207, provided  brief accounts as both Ichthyophis garoensis and Ichthyophis husaini. Ravichandran, 2004, Hamadryad, 28: 98-104, summarized range. Ahmed, Das, and Dutta, 2009, Amph. Rept. NE India: 53, provided a brief account. Kamei, Wilkinson, Gower, and Biju, 2009, Zootaxa, 2267: 26-42, did not map Assam as part of the range. Mathew and Sen, 2009, Rec. Zool. Surv. India, Occas. Pap., 309: 16-17, reported on additional specimens. Mathew and Sen, 2010, Pict. Guide Amph. NE India: 128-130, provided a brief characterization and photograph. Dutta, 2003 "2002", Hamadryad, 27: 157, noted records from Assam and appeared to doubt the distinctiveness of Ichthophis husaini from Ichthyophis sikkimensis. Das and Dutta, 2007, Hamadryad, 31: 154–181, noted no larval descriptions in the literature. Mathew and Sen, 2010, Pict. Guide Amph. NE India: 131-132, provided a brief characterization and photograph as Ichthophis husaini. Kamei and Biju, 2016, Zootaxa, 4079: 140–150, examined and discussed the holotypes of Ichthyophis husaini and Ichthyophis garoensis and made the synonymy. Rahman, Nneji, and Hossain, 2022, J. Asia-Pacific Biodiversity, 15: 152, included the species in the Bangladesh fauna but did not reference specimens.
