Thorius pinicola Parra-Olea, Rovito, García-París, Maisano, Wake, and Hanken, 2016, PeerJ, 4(e2694): 6. Holotype: MVZ 185344,by original designation. Type locality: "Mexico, Oaxaca, Miahuatlán District,Mexico Hwy. 175, 4.2 mi N (by road) San Miguel Suchixtepec, adult female, 16° 7′11″N, 96° 29′26″W, 2,700 m above sea level".

English Names

Pine-dwelling Minute Salamander (original publication). 


Known only from between 1.7 and 12.4 km north of the village of San Miguel Suchixtepec, Oaxaca, and also a few kilometers east of this region on the west end of the Sierra de Miahuatlán in southern Oaxaca, Mexico, 2490-3000 m elevation.
