Thorius longicaudus Parra-Olea, Rovito, García-París, Maisano, Wake, and Hanken, 2016, PeerJ, 4(e2694): 17. Holotype: MCZ A-137819, by original designation. Type locality: "Mexico, Oaxaca, Sola de Vega District, pine-oak forest along Mexico Hwy. 131, 19 km S (by road) Sola de Vega, adult female, 16°27′35″N, 97° 00′26″W, 2,200 m above sea level". Distribution

Known from two areas of pine-oak forest in Oaxaca, Mexico: (1) the vicinity of the type locality, which is along Mexico Hwy. 131 approximately 19 km south of the village of Sola de Vega, in one of the northernmost ridges of the Sierra Madre del Sur; (2) near San Vicente Lachixio, about 40 km to the northwest of the type locality. Recorded elevations range approximately 2100 to 2200 m (elevation at the type locality was recorded initially as 2,200 m, but it has been recorded subsequently as low as 2,085 m).
