Dendrotriton kekchiorum Campbell, Smith, Streicher, Acevedo, and Brodie, 2010, Misc. Publ. Mus. Zool. Univ. Michigan, 200: 48. Holotype: UTA A-51086, by original designation. Type locality: "road between El Chimel and San Pablo El Baldío, El Quiché, Guatemala, at 2100 m elevation (15.511944° N, 90.791944° W)".

Kekchi Bromeliad Salamander (Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 839).

Distribution

Known only from the road between El Chimel and San Pablo El Baldío, El Quiché, Guatemala, in the extreme eastern part of the Sierra de Cuchumatans, 2100  to 2690 m elevation.

Confused with Dendrotriton rabbi prior to its naming according to the original publication. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 73–75, compared this species with others from Central America and provided a map and photograph. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 363, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 839–840, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
