Comment

Reviewed (as the Chiropterotriton bromeliacia group) by Lynch and Wake, 1975, Contrib. Sci. Nat. Hist. Mus. Los Angeles Co., 265: 1–45. Phylogenetic relationships in the genus presented by Collins-Rainboth and Buth, 1990, Copeia, 1990: 955–960, were (xolocalcae (rabbi (cuchumatanus (bromeliacia, megarhinus)))). Wilkinson, 1997, Herpetol. J., 7: 55–65, disputed these results as weakly supported. In the tribe Bolitoglossini of Vieites, Nieto-Roman, Wake, and Wake, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 59: 633. Rovito, Wake, Papenfuss, Parra-Olea, Muñoz-Alonso, and Vásquez-Almazán, 2012, J. Biogeograph., 39: 1251–1265, reported on molecular phylogenetics and biogeography. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 73–75, provided a brief summary of natural history, a key to the species of Central America, and range maps and photographs of the species. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 362–364, provided brief accounts for the species, photographs, and range map. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 837–841, provided species accounts summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
