Chiropterotriton prisca Rabb, 1956, Fieldiana, Zool., 39: 11. Holotype: FMNH 95999, by original designation. Type locality: "at an elevation of 8,000 feet on Cerro Potosí, near Ojo de Agua, about eleven miles west-northwest of Galeana, Nuevo León, Mexico".

Primeval Flat-footed Salamander (Liner and Casas-Andreu, 2008, Herpetol. Circ., 38: 30).

Distribution

Cerro Potosi near Ojo de Agua to Galeana, Nuevo León, Mexico, above 3000 m elevation; reported in adjacent Coahuila.

Liner, Johnson, and Chaney, 1976, Herpetol. Rev., 7: 177, provided specific localities for this species. Lemos-Espinal and Smith, 2007, Anf. Rept. Coahuila México: 29, provided an account for Coahuila, Mexico, and suggested that the range was the mountains of western Nuevo Leon and adjacent Coahuila, although D.B. Wake (personal commun.) suggested that this taxon may represent a species complex.  Campbell, Streicher, Cox, and Brodie, 2014, S. Am. J. Herpetol.: 231, provided a useful table of updated comparative morphology of the species.. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 292, provided a brief account, photograph, and map.
