Previously confused with Chiropterotriton multidentatus according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 792–793, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map), and noting a nearby record from a cave at 420 m elevation near a sawmill El Paraiso but without citing vouchers.
