Distribution

Parque Nacional El Chico in Hidalgo, Mexico, at an elevation between 2400 and 3050 m, in pine-oak forest.

Comment

The sister taxon of Chiropterotriton terrestris and fomerly confused with Chiropterotriton multidentatus according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 795–796, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
