Bolitoglossa nympha Campbell, Smith, Streicher, Acevedo, and Brodie, 2010, Misc. Publ. Mus. Zool. Univ. Michigan, 200: 41. Holotype: UTA A-45328, by original designation. Type locality: "E of San Miguelito, along tributary of Río Bobos, Sierra de Caral, Municipio de Morales, Izabal, Guatemala, between 510–550 m elevation (15.357485° N, 88.719444° W)".

The sister taxon of the Bolitoglossa rufescens group + Bolitoglossa hartwegi group, and confused with Bolitoglossa rufescens prior to its naming according to the original publication. Populations of nominal Bolitoglossa rufescens reported from Honduras may represent this species or closely-related ones (DRF). Rovito, Parra-Olea, Vázquez-Almazán, Luna-Reyes, and Wake, 2012, BMC Evol. Biol., 12(255): 1–16, reported on phylogeography. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 40–69, compared this species with others from Central America and provided a map and photograph. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 315–316, provided a brief account, photograph, and map.
