Bolitoglossa (Eladinea) mucuyensis García-Gutiérrez, Escalona, Mora, Diaz de Pascual, and Fermin, 2012, Zootaxa, 3620:184. Holotype: ULABG 1772, by original destination. Type locality: "Parque Nacional 'SierraNevada', La Mucuy, nearby a stream located between a trout farm and a place called Mesa de Los Pinos, 2225m asl, Santos Marquina municipality, Mérida state, Venezuela".

Known only from the type locality (Santos Marquina municipality, Mérida state, Venezuela, 2225 m elevation).


The sister taxon of Bolitoglossa orestes according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 333, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
