Bolitoglossa aureogularis Boza-Oviedo, Rovito, Chaves, García-Rodríguez, Artavia, Bolaños, and Wake, 2012, Zootaxa, 3309: 45. Holotype: UCR 19893, by original designation. Type locality: "along the Río Coén on the Trans-Talamancan trail near Cerro Arbo-lado (9.3925° N, 83.2119° W) at an elevation of 1680 m approximately 8 km N of the continental divide, Provincia de Limón, Costa Rica".

In the Bolitoglossa robinsoni complex according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 322, provided a brief account, photograph, and map.
