Bolitoglossa alberchi García-París, Parra-Olea, Brame, and Wake, 2002, Rev. Esp. Herpetol., 16: 57. Holotype: MVZ 163962, by original designation. Type locality: 14 km (road) NE Sontecomapan, Veracruz, Mexico, 18° 56′ N, 95° 05′ W, at ca. 50 m elevation".

English Names

Albrecht's [sic] Salamander (Liner and Casas-Andreu, 2008, Herpetol. Circ., 38: 28).

Alberch's Salamander (here, correcting the misspelling of Liner and Casas).

Distribution

Los Tuxtlas area in east-central Veracruz and the Los Chimalapas area of extreme eastern Oaxaca, and the Caribbean slopes of western and central Chiapas, near sea level to 1080 m elevation. 

Comment

According to the original publication in the Bolitoglossa mexicana group and in polytomy with Bolitoglossa odonnelli, Bolitoglossa lignicolor, and a group composed of Bolitoglossa striatula, Bolitoglossa mombachoensis, Bolitoglossa yucatana, and Bolitoglossa mexicana. In the subgenus Bolitoglossa of Parra-Olea, García-París, and Wake, 2004, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 81: 335, formerly the Bolitoglossa mexicana group. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 40–69, compared this species with others from Central America, provided a map, photograph, and brief characterization. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 310, provided a brief account, photograph, and map.
