Hynobius tosashimizuensis Sugawara, Watabe, Yoshikawa, and Nagano, 2018, Herpetologica, 74: 162. Holotype: TKPM-H131, by original designaiton. Type locality: "Tosashimizu City, Kochi Prefecture, Shikoku, Japan (32°47′N, 132°47′E; elevation 350 m above sea level [a.s.l.]; in all cases, datum . WGS84)".

Known only from the type locality (Tosashimizu City, Kochi Prefecture, Shikoku, Japan, elevation 350 m).

Comment

Most closely related to Hynobius dunni, according to the original publication, with which it was formerly confused. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 122–123, provided an account, summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
