Hynobius katoi Matsui, Kokuryo, Misawa, and Nishikawa, 2004, Zool. Sci., Tokyo, 21: 662. Holotype: KUHE 17946, by original designation. Type locality: "Mt. Takane-San (138° 11′ E, 34° 58′ N, alt. 750 m) in Fujieda-shi, Shizuoka Prefecture", Japan.
